After just it’s 80th day on the open market, the iPad has reached an incredible 3 million sales worldwide. What makes this feat even more impressive is the news that the last million units were sold in just 3 weeks.

“People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives,” Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs said. “We’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month.”

Apple application developers are also working hard trying to keep a steady flow of new apps available for the increasing number of iPad owners. Apple advertises 2000 apps currently for the iPad, but recent numbers show over 11,000 apps are iniment. There is also work to be done to convert current apps for the iPhone and iPod touch to the iPad, with the recent success of the Angry Birds app creating huge waves in the market.

The current numbers show that the iPad sales are in fact increasing, with the first million being sold in 28 days, which was also repeated for the second million. To have sold the third million in 3 weeks demonstrates the demand for the product, and also the loyalty and trust consumers have with the Apple corporation.
